Biography of Eric Ronick
Before Eric ever began working as an engineer or producer he studied music as a pianist.
Eric began studying classical and jazz Piano at a young age.
By the time Eric reached Wesleyan University (in Middletown, Conn.), he was recording and performing
with McArthur Award winning composer Anthony Braxton. After college, Eric moved to New York
where he began working at Frankford/Wayne Mastering.
It was during this time that Eric became educated in the art of audio production.
After a few years at Frankford/Wayne, Eric opened his own recording studio (the original thin man studios)
located off Union Square in Manhattan. At this small Manhattan studio, Eric produced a great deal of music
of all styles including rock, jazz, hip-hop, folk, and r&b. While busily running his studio and producing bands,
Eric continued to pursue a career as a keyboard player, eventually joining the band Ambulance LTD.
As the keyboard player for Ambulance, Eric toured all over the world with bands such as The Killers,
VHS or Beta, Stellastar, Guided by Voices, and Elefant. He also performed with Ambulance on
The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brian,
The Craig Kilborn Show, and The John McEnroe Show.
Between tours with Ambulance, Eric teamed up with his friend Doug Dahl and began construction on
the new thin man studios in DUMBO. After returning from tour, Eric has resumed his work in
the studio, producing and recording new bands with the advantage of his experiences as a performing musician on the road.
